Good Day All,

First and foremost, thanks to each of you for your respective service to this great nation. Second, to those who have not personally served, thank you for your support. Following is a synopsis of my military affiliation from 1973 to present. As an added note, I grew up in military schools. I began 4th grade at Georgia Military Academy, which changed names and became Woodward Academy. From 10th through 12th grades I attended Marion Military Institute, dropping out in my senior year to enlist.

ARMY (active duty): It was a cold and rainy day (seriously) when I enlisted in the Army - January 1973. During my ensuing seven years of active duty my MOS were 71L Administrative Specialist and 11C Infantry Indirect Crewman (mortars). At each of my assignments I worked in the orderly room AND the mortar platoon (81 & 4.2). I was clerk, mortarman, forward observer, and fire direction computer at Ft Polk, LA; Ft Riley, KS; Baumholder, GM; Ft Campbell, KY; and Schweinfurt, GM. The Armor units in Germany were always short-handed, so I also worked as loader on the M60. Nothing more fun than breaking track on an M60, 577, 113, or changing a tire on an M151, while lying in mud and/or snow at Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels. In 1980, I worked at Ft McPherson, GA for three months, until receiving a hardship discharge on March 28.

ARMY (reserve): The following year someone convinced me to join a reserve unit. In 1981, I obtained my third MOS as 97B Counterintelligence Special Agent. In 1985, I began full time civil service work in the USAR as a Technician. To be promoted in my civilian job required reassignment, which then required becoming MOS qualified to fit into the new assignment. As a result I picked up MOS 51H Construction Supervisor and 13E Field Artillery Fire Direction Specialist. I worked in the Army Reserve Technician program until August 1989, and remained a reservist until November 1998.

ARMY (civil service): In August 1989, my USAR job became my full time career. I entered the Military Intelligence Civilian Excepted Career Program (MICECP) as a Counterintelligence Special Agent (GG-0132). Assignments took me to Belgium (twice); Germany; Maryland; and Hawaii. During my second assignment to Belgium I had the honor of supporting Operation Joint Endeavor as a member of the Crisis Response Cell, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). While assigned to Hawaii, I was deployed to support the Joint Special Operations Task Force - Philippines (JSOTF-P), Zamboanga. In April 2005, I resigned and returned to DC.

DEPARTMENT OF STATE (civil service): From October 2005 through January 2010, I worked for Diplomatic Security Service, US Department of State, as a Counterintelligence Analyst. My area of specialty was South & Central Asia. Due to turnover of personnel, I also frequently covered Russia and half of EurAsia.

COAST GUARD (civil service): From August 2010 through July 2011, I worked for the US Coast Guard as Intelligence Collection Manager and Counterintelligence Agent. Following surgeries on back and sinuses, I retired and moved to Florida on July 31, 2011.

COAST GUARD (Auxiliary): Since January 2010, I have been a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, albeit not as active as I would like.

SERVICE(S) SUMMARY: Active Duty Army - 7 years. Army Reserve - 17 years. Army Civil Service - 24 yrs. Coast Guard Civil Service - 1 yr. MOS - 71L, 11C, 97B,

In December 2012, I screwed up a skydiving landing and am still recovering from three fractures to my left ankle. Lying in bed for six weeks provided me with time to decide upon my next step (no pun intended). In January 2013, I decided that my last home of record would be Hawaii. On March 28, 2013 I boarded my one-way flight to Hilo, Hawaii and am now searching for a house to buy. I have a rental for the interim, but if I were homeless this would sure be my first choice - location, location, location! Not really sure what else will follow. I'm open to suggestions.

Glad to be here online with you. Thanks again for that opportunity.

V/r,
Brian

P.S. -- Sorry for any typos or grammatical errors. But hey, I'm retired!

Welcome! You are officially retarded, I mean, retired! Congrats!

Welcome Coastie. Fellow Auxiliarist here. Don't hold it against me please.

Welcome!

Man, I loved reading all that. So is "Counterintelligence Special Agent" a full-time desk job or is it like a James Bond-ish thing? :D Ever considered writing a fictional book?
