I stumbled onto this Special Forces exhibition running at the Australian War Memorial after reading @digrar 's post on the Long Tan. I'd like to see this at some point, it looks interesting.

You should visit, but you won't get through the whole memorial in a day. It has some really absorbing displays & the dioramas are simply stunning. They have added new displays over the years and the SF one is the latest.

That place is one of my favorite military memorials.

It’s amazing & I’m pleased you’ve been through it. There’s a lot of interactive exhibits now & a couple of good mock ups for kids; a helo & a sub comms centre.

The last time I was there every 10 or 15 minutes the Viet Nam section would have a wind and light show replicating a huey coming in for a dustoff, complete with helicopter, VHF radio sound track, M60s going off, massive fans replicating the rotor wash. Fantastic stuff.

Yep, the Lancaster bomber raid simulation I remember being in the same vein.
