@Jaknight -

WTF, over?

Did you not read my post written in 'red' directly above the last post you made? No more "race" conversations in this thread.

Consider this a friendly (kinda) warning.

I'd like this maybe, I'd really love to get Lt. Col. Allen West as Vice President. Or, vice versa.

Getting away from the "career politician" is appealing to me. "strong candidates that happen to be immigrants, minority, female or LGBTQ+" I'm a live and let live kinda guy. Just be respectful and abide by the law.

I kind of like for my president to NOT be a war criminal.
He's not. Don't really care for the guy politically, but I'm calling shenanigans.

Honestly, I could care less what someones identity 'moniker' is. Career politicians need to go, but all this pandering to all the sub groups needs to stop. People need to realize that being American is special in itself, all the extra BS needs to go away.

Preamble
For those who remember me weighing in on civil and political topics over the past years, my recent silence on such topics may be a bit perplexing. One of these days, I'll lay out my personal political philosophy here on SS in depth. Until then, the reaction I got to the one mention of a label that could apply to me taught me the value of silence. Overall emotional fatigue around everything that's going down has only reinforced that.

Background
Regardless of my own fringe beliefs and the increasing polarization in US civil society at large, I believe strongly that there's a few things most/all of us can basically agree on:
  • The two-party system as we know it today is utterly broken and completely captured/corrupt
  • The rising tensions on the "street" (regardless of which side you may favor) poses a clear and present danger to the republic (I don't think we have many SS members who actively and honestly/openly support the total demise of our current system of government and way of life - that is, preserving and restoring the republic is something we mostly all want to see)
  • That out of ~350 million people/citizens in the US, the fact that the "best" candidates we can come up with are a couple of old (either would be the oldest sworn president ever) white dudes that each have serious failings
Discussion
So, what are we to do? Choosing the lesser of two evils has inexorably led us to where we are. Systemic inertia will not allow any kind of meaningful change by following the usual and well-worn ruts/paths.

Hey, Kanye! Whoa dude, the Rock and Rogan! Oprah! Michelle! Etc., etc., etc. Okay - some of these could actually form viable tickets. Others are jokes/stunts. But those who've heard of Rock/Rogan probably remember the JRE episode with Bret Weinstein (where the idea was originally (?) floated. Bret's a super smart and serious guy. He was talking about a "Darkhorse Duo". Well, he's been working behind the scenes and fleshed the plan out.

Proposal
I submit to the board an actually viable (and non-spoilering) 3rd party presidency plan. Behold the
Articles of Unity! I'll let you read the white paper for yourselves (~9 min read). But know that the initially proposed slate is McRaven and Yang (neither are mentioned by name in the white paper). Either/both of these could be replaced by others.

Post Script

I've got to run (about to board a flight), so I cannot elaborate further. But please check the link out. Look at Bret's youtube - he's got several short clips explaining the concept. This is a real option, and one that could go a long ways towards healing some of the outrageous rifts that have destroyed American civil society over the past 15 years.

In short, this is a way out. A way to hack the system so that it serves it's originally intended purpose and the American People.

Happy 4th, you magnificent bastards!

I see things getting worse before they get better. I hope I'm wrong. Big picture scares me. Not for me but for my younger loved ones and friends younger loved ones.

Never happen... We're too far divided. It'll take a true civil war for people to scrub the current system. The Tea Party and Ross Perot were the closest we've gotten. Trump wouldn't have been elected as an Independent or Libertarian. The bottom line is that we as a country are ideologically separated to a degree where there will only be agreement to disagree. If either of the fringes manage to get elected and hold the House and Senate, that will be the end of the Republic. Obama was almost there, but he wasted the opportunity jamming Obamacare down our throats. Trump was almost there (I don't see him as fringe, but he's not establishment) but the Republicans stonewalled their own President out of spite. If the House and Senate get together with the President, the only thing that could stop them is the Supreme Court.

Agreed, it'll never happen, but not necessarily because we're divided, but because the GOP and DNC won't allow it. To the victors go the spoils and they've gamed the system to ensure no meaningful competition from a third party, especially at the federal level. At the local and state level it's much easier.

Despite him admitting to it during his Article 15 hearing? An admission of guilt isn't enough? Cool.
Much like Michael Flynn 'admitted' to being a 'Russian asset'? We both know West was railroaded by the political establishment. The same political establishment that keeps losing wars for us.

Did Michael Flynn ‘admit’ that? Who is ‘us’ that the political establishment is losing wars for?

It's a figure of speech that articulates upon a false premise to prove a point. ;-)

TLDR: West not war criminal. Politicians suck.
