E-Readers

I guess I should have specified. This will be used 99% of the time on the ship. I'll load everything onto the reader at home and then take it with me. So, wi-Fi and 3G would only really come into play at home when I'm loading books, magazines and such on to the device.

I have had a Samsung 10.1 for about four years. It's a little slow but running Kindle, Nook, Akido, news apps, ebay, facebook and a lot of other 'stuff'. I'm happy with it. Not as fast as a PC, but that's fine.
I run Kindle other book apps on my Galaxy S4 also works fine.

I have to echo the sentiments on Calibre. I have somewhere in the order of 600 ebooks now with the master load on the PC and backup USB HD. LOVE Calibre.
