Wow Iron sights?? Do Snipers still practice with iron sights?
I would defer that question to our SOF Snipers. In the Marines, BITD, you wouldn't be eligible for Scout/Sniper training unless you shot high expert with iron sights during rifle qual. That was with M-14s.
The Russkies finally got Simo Hayha. He took a bullet in the face and was in a coma for a few weeks. But they didn't kill him.
He was a legend when I got there. The Finns turned out some badass motherfuckers during that Winter War.

My father's family is Finnish (my dad was second gen American). They have a very deep-seated pride of their identity, and a deep-seated hatred for Russians (at least my family does).
