18X Security Clearance

Can anyone shed some light on the process of getting a security clearance for an 18X? I enlisted in the Army a month ago with an 18X contract and ship to basic in a few weeks. I applied for a secret clearance. I have some questions I'd like to ask on here considering there's a lot of guys that have their clearance.

How will/can I be contacted by an investigator if I'm in boot camp?

Is there a polygraph?

How many people do they contact besides the references you put down?

How long does the process take? I know with civilian jobs it can take forever, but is it quicker with military jobs?

Also, when I was at MEPS and signed my contract I spoke to a guy on the phone that asked me questions verifying the answers on my SF86, I'm not sure if he was involved with the investigation or if he was some liaison between the Army and the investigation agency.
