2nd MARDIV 50 Mile Hump

I think that max time is for folks who really will begin "preparing now" for a 50 miler that steps off in less than a month. :D:ninja:

Looks like it's three days because they've allotted 20 total hours for the ruck. So probably only daylight hours each day. It is a slow pace, but I think it's probably to allow older and/or somewhat physically disabled members to participate. Probably a big point of pride for some old veterans of 2nd MARDIV to come out and get a hike in.

A 50 mile hike involving who knows how many people of varying physical states...think of the support staff for this event. If anything, that alone justifies making this a 3 day event. Outside of a few units, how many folks will get wrecked by 50 miles in 3 days? Traffic control, medical, the obligatory press coverage, disruption of traffic in and around base...yeah, you almost have to make this a 3 day event. It is a morale/ nostalgia thing, not training or SMU selection.

Once upon a time they had a hundred mile hike. If I can find it, I have a little certificate of completion that my dad had for completing it.

I think they had something similar on Okinawa as well.
