Shades od the 70's when the Reserves/Guard had all sorts of "Special Operations" aircraft, then got new (TAC/ACC, MAC/AMC) missions or went away. I personally think the Guard/reserve are perfect locations for these small number specialized airframes as it's prevents Big Blue from having career kittens (always a problem with the SOF community).
