I've battled this shadow chain of command for my entire Army career. They are ruthless. They are relentless. They are legion (there really are quite a lot of them). They go by many names, but the E4M are cunning, crafty, and masters of the art of shamming.

I've fought them in the motor pool, the supply room, and during summarized Arts15. I'm not looking forward to fighting them on our streets. This is a sad day for America.

Particularly distressing is their advocacy for wholesale assault of junior commissioned officers, and their use of "lawfare" to promote their political, social, and economic agendas.

All I can say to this whole situation is IKIS.

The historical roots of E4M go back to Vietnam, when a shadow group of soldiers from a Cav Scout unit formed the MBM, or Magic Bus Movement, a revolutionary group fueled by cheap dope and liquid speed. Membership grew through secret communications on the "Bullshit Freak," non-tactical or little used radio frequencies that were changed by the use of code words.

I was pressured to join after a chewing out by a 2nd Lt for drop-kicking my helmet liner over bamboo "goalposts" during an afternoon patrol/impromptu touch-football game in a dry rice paddy.
