It's the cumulative efforts that they rely on, 20km isn't overly difficult, all diggers do a 15km march every year for their CFA, but I saw my Platoon Sergeant come back from SASR selection where he had a pretty good attempt at killing himself by heat stress during the 20km event (on a 45'C day). He said they'd just flogged them for 3 days leading up to it and the warm up prior to the event and they were just about shagged before they started it.
 
The 20k looks to have replaced the 32k. You've inadvertently answered a question for me. As I was watching the doco, I wondered what joys and delights the cadre would have in store. It must be brutal now if that's what commanche selection looks like.
