WASHINGTON, D.C. (USASOC News Service, Feb. 20, 2013) -The chief of staff, Army announced today the following assignments:

Maj. Gen. Paul J. LaCamera, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C., to commanding general, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) and Fort Carson, Fort Carson, Colo.

Maj. Gen Austin S. Miller, special assistant to the deputy commanding general, U.S. Special Operations Command, Washington, D.C., to commander, Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan/North Atlantic Treaty Organization Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.

4ID is a long way from the Ranger Regiment, which is what he was commanding when I first met him.

His third star is more or less guaranteed now, though I'd retire if given the command. I'm sure someone has had a positive experience with 4th ID....I just haven't met them.

Good, hopefully he can make some positive changes over at Fort Carson. For the most part having to dealing with someone wearing the Ivy patch is another day of one's patience being tested, especially when I was working over at NORTHCOM and the 4th ID augmentees would show up 2 hours late for mission.
