Hello, my name is Casey.
I joined the National Guard in 2007 and went to infantry school a month later. I deployed with my first unit but was pulled from the line platoon and placed in coist. Leaving me wanting more I volunteered for another deployment, tried to go active duty, and tried to go to the SFRE through 20th SF Group. All of which were shut down. So I found a unit 900 miles away deploying to Afghanistan and transferred there. I ended up on a tiny COP up north and it was a little too quiet for my taste.
I got home last fall and finally got my release last week and signed an 18x contract on active duty. I'm headed to airborne in September and then off to Bragg. I'm spending my last few months home training to be in the best shape as possible when I get there. I've come across this site before but never joined, but I figured now that I have this opportunity to go after my goal within arms reach I should join and soak up as much advice from those who have gone before me.
