Good afternoon Gentlemen,

I enlisted into the United States Marine Corps Reserve in Dec 2009, attended boot camp from Jan-Apr 2010. I am an admin by trade. I attended and completed Marine Corps Officer Candidate School (PLC) in 2012 and 2013. I just received the bad news last week that I was dropped from becoming a Marine Officer Program due to my grades dropping, they are still within regs but a drop means I can be dropped and it happened. I bit off more than I could chew (24 units) and I paid the price and lost out of the opportunity of a lifetime (air contract).

Here I am, I have a year and a half left on my current contract and I can not go out like this. Although I am only in the reserves my life is the Marine Corps. I have given it everything I have in the past 4-5 years and I want to continue to give 110%. I will apply for OCC next Feb-Mar to try and attend OCS for next summer, however realistically I will not be selected after being dropped after completing OCS, one year out from commissioning.

I have set my eyes on MARSOC and am training to put in a package for next Oct class. My swim needs A LOT of work but I am as motivated as ever to prove myself. Getting dropped from the Marine Officer Program was the most humbling experience of my life. Attention to detail 24/7 will only get me to my goals. I look forward to speaking with you all and I thank you all for this forum. It will help me like it has helped others.

Welcome to ShadowSpear! One of the signs of a true leader is the ability to learn from their mistakes and then correct the problem. Have a plan in place and understand that -- unless you are in an active combat zone -- most of the time, the only one that can derail you -- is you. Sounds like you have already recognized this fact.

With that said, I wish you the absolute best of luck with your pursuits. Do all that you have to do and then drive on....

Thank you Marine.
