hey everyone, my name is Daniel and im a student at ECU. im getting ready to join the army and become a ranger, currently waiting for a contract to open up.

Welcome.
Ranger is always capitalized, and text speak/typing is discouraged for the sake of professionalism (typing on a phone is not an excuse). Attention to detail will be demanded should you get to Ranger Battalion.

You're new, take this as a teaching moment. Drive On.

Greetings.

Waiting on that contract to come up can be excruciating. Take that time to familiarize yourself with what you're getting into. Check out our Mentor section. We have one for aspiring Rangers, in addition to other specialties. You'll find a wealth of information and inspiration there that should help you get through the waiting game without going completely batshit crazy.

Also, while it may at first seem that my esteemed colleague is just an internet grammar Nazi (NTTAWWT), he makes a very valid point. Attention to detail is not something that you can just switch on and off at whim. It's either in all things, or in nothing. Getting into the mindset that "Awww, it's just XYZ..." allows that train of thought to creep into other situations where it ought not be. Plus, you don't know if one of your future Ranger School Instructors is a member and reading your posts, thinking "Damn, this kid has got some issues." Professionalism is the name of the game, and while we're definitely a merry bunch of miscreants, we didn't get to where we are without embracing professionalism to the bone. Just a little bit of advice for you.

Anyway, I've prattled on long enough. I hope you enjoy yourself here.

Thanks it didn't even cross my mind to not type in text language on here, just came by to get some information and read some good threads but i will definitely keep that professional mindset more, even towards the little things. The waiting game is awful though, I've been waiting for a contract for a couple months now with no luck and i have no clue if I should maybe give another recruiter a shot or keep waiting. Where I'm at now, they keep giving me other options or telling me to just go straight to infantry but there is no way I'm going into anything without a guarantee to be where i want to be. Any advice on the recruiters ?
