After creeping around on the site for a while I figured it was time to sign up!

Currently AD in the USCG. BM2 and have been in for 9 years. I've done Search and Rescue, Aids to Navigation, Ports-Waterways-Coastal Security, and I am tactical coxswain and Boarding Officer qualified (among a whole bunch of other quals that don't matter). About to deploy to the Middle East for a year, so I probably won't be on here much for a while. Looking to do our DSF program when I get back, either at a TACLET or MSRT. Hope to have some fun and learn a lot on here.

Welcome to SS
Could not help myself when I saw your avatar. The way things are going just now, Mr. Williams may have a good shot at replacing Sec Kerry if the dems keep control of the White House.

welcome - where are you stationed East Coast, West Coast, GOM/Caribe, Great Lakes or inland navigable waterways?

currently east coast in Maryland, but I'm shipping out to the Arabian Gulf here shortly. pretty stoked, should be a good time.

I know this is old, but I was speaking to a recruiter about their DSF, formerly DOG. Not a lot of people know about the jobs aside from minimal google info. I was interested in their reserve port security units (PSU) as a reserve officer possibly since I'm moving to the space coast for my engineering job.
From what I've gathered the TACLET (tactical law enforcement team) is their drug interdiction force that do the sub/boat seizing and arrests. Their MSRT is their hostage rescue/DAS/counter terrorism unit, maritime security response team. 2 main ones, east and west, Virginia and San Diego. They do have other units like the MSST, the strike force, and I believe can have dog handlers.
Their snipers I also believe took the sniper competition wins for 2016 and 2017.
I was surprised to learn all of this about the coast guard especially that PSU's can deploy to gitmo and the middle east for security.

Did you end up being able to do one of these jobs?

If so what was your experience like?

Any recommendations for their selection process?
