How's everyone doing today? I'm Pete and I'm currently training for a shot at the Basic Reconnaissance Course and a chance to become a Force Recon Marine. I used this site a lot for training tips and to gain more information about the SOF community so I figured I'd finally make an account and contribute what I can to someone else. Currently I'm in DEP and I am no where near an expert on anything but have gained a lot of useful information on training, nutrition, and more that I'd like to pass onto other SOF hopefuls in the same boat as me. I started off at 238lbs and only 5'6" and now I am 192lbs still with a long, uphill battle ahead of me. Thanks for reading and I look forward to interacting with everyone on here!

Welcome aboard.

Be VERY careful with what you share. "I heard" or "I read on the Internet" posts are a quick way to a counseling session. Wannabes giving advice to wannabes is a bad idea unless the information is timely, relevant, and backed up with official sources. "Here's what worked for me in losing weight" is better than "I read over on..... that I should" Our vetted members will have direct or indirect experience with your topics; at best you'll have second-hand information for almost everything.

Don't take this personally, we've seen this play out on this very forum hundreds of time. Consider this a friendly heads up.

Again, welcome aboard. Check out the "SITREP" thread found elsewhere to see instances of guys going from your current position to achieving their goals.

SITREP THREAD. Post your Progress Here.

Good luck and keep training.

Thank you for that information, I'll definitely keep that in mind while posting, posting more from experience rather than "he said, she said"

Welcome to SS. I'd like to echo @Freefalling's advice. You have done well in your weight loss program, and I wish you luck as you continue to prepare for "boot camp". I wish you the best of luck in your plans.

Oh one more thing, do you have Recon as a contract before you go to bootcamp?

Welcome aboard and good luck.

I don't, my recruiter for whatever reason won't let me negotiate it now that I already signed for 03xx. He keeps avoiding it when I ask.

You just answered your own question, you're in the DEP, there is nothing to negotiate, you already made your decision and committed to it. Now you have to own it, and earn a slot in Recon.
