Greeting gentlemen ! I'm currently serving in the Marine Corps reserve and recently pick up corporal. Ive been dead set on joining the SOF community through either MARSOC or the 18x program. I've always wanted to join the army with aspirations of becoming a green beret.Instead I enlisted in the marine corps. My current mos is 2146 "tank mech". More to the point, I'm stuck I love being a Marine, but I feel that sf is where i belong. Been in the process of talking with army recruiter and getting the conditional release form and all that goes with it. Studying for the ASVAB and trying to recover from some injuries. Ive been swimming alot because either way MARSOC or SF ill be doing some swimming. I would like some input on marines that have gone both routes.

Welcome to SS. Take some time with our MARSOC, and Special Forces Mentor areas. Never discount what you have done with your time in the USMC. We need everybody we have doing what their MOS asks of them. If and when you move to MARSOC, or make the change to chase down a Special Forces MOS, your current MOS will still need to be filled by someone else. It is refreshing to hear that you "love being a Marine". I wish you the best of luck in your future plans.
