Hello all. Name is Doug and I am a prior OS in the Navy. After four years I got out to pursue a college education. With two semesters down I regret my decision each morning. I think its safe to say it was a textbook grass is greener situation.

Being 26 years old I began to panic in terms of what career path to take. After switching degrees and taking time to figure it out, I realized I was just trying to fill the military void. The last few months I have began the process of picking up a KBOSS contract through triple canopy. I spent some time talking with a friend of my parents who spent seven years pulling contracts after years in the seal teams. He brought me to the conclusion that at the end if the day in that industry you are still left unsatisfied and years behind the counter parts of where you want to be. Pretty much told me that if you can accomplish that same goal you set while in a stable career path with a retirement at the end of the day.. there is no reason to count out a return to the military.

While in the Navy I had an NEC in the form of air control. I loved it. So much that I pondered a career as an ATC in the private sector. I think it's that passion that led me towards TACP. It is now my goal. I joined up to learn as much as possible and hopefully set myself up towards success. I look forward to reading all that has been posted and getting to know you all. I appologize if this was to lengthy.
Cheers guys

Welcome.

I highly discourage people from the KBOSS contract. I've helped a handful of people get on to that contract but they were in somewhat unique situations.
If you have questions about the contract I can put you in touch with guys over there. Or if you are interested in a different contract I could try to help you out. I will say some contracts are great in that they allow you to make good money, workout, and finish your college degree all at the same time.

Anyway, I wish you best of luck in your endeavors.

Welcome to SS. I'm sorry to hear that an undergrad degree was not in the cards for you, at this time. Perhaps it is a matter of not having a goal. Do keep in mind that going after an undergraduate degree shows that you are taking steps to improve your self, even if it is internet and evening classes. Employers, the US Military included, look at self improvement through education is a plus.

Listen to @AKkeith. He knows what he is talking about, and is a great resource. Best of luck.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. Keith do you mind if I shoot you a msg? Rules were pretty clear this is strictly for intros so don't want expand here.
