I stumbled upon this sight during one of my post-exam Google binges. (You know, those golden times when you've been studying for days on end and then realize you have a day or so to dawdle before having to crawl back into the wormhole.) I am a second year medical student, and while I haven't quite decided what I want to be when I grow up, I have consistently been leaning toward something in the critical care or surgery vein. At one time, I had planned to enroll in the HPSP program, but realized that due to a combination of family and medical reasons, joining the military at this time is probably not the way to go. However, I am interested in working in military medicine as a civilian contractor. I joined the community because I always seem to be getting snippets of information about combat medicine and civilians' role in military medicine, without really figuring out how it all works or what I need to do next.
And so... that's me, in a nutshell. For those of you who are considering applying to medical school, please feel free to ask me any questions!
