I buddy emailed me the link to this one:

Aparently this dirtbag was an Army Reservist....Anyway LEO got a good hit on the dirtbags chest, and he was found dead 1/2 mile down the road, with his kids still in the car.

Anyway, I thought this would be a good thread to post up videos of OIS, debate the actions from a training/educational standpoint.

Any reason as to why he opened fire?

He had a number of personal problems that evidently led up to him coming uncorked. He couldn't find a job, girl friend left him. Moved to OR and his problems continued. Allen was speeding down I-84 when Trooper Zistel initiated the traffic stop. This is one reason why if you are pulled over, to stay in your vehicle. When you open your door, or worse, exit the vehicle, you have just put the officer on the defensive...which may not bode very well for you.

Like I said. This subject wound up taking a DRT nap as well.

What was this idiots story?

The shooter (McCloskey) was a suspect in an earlier drive-by shooting in which no one was hurt. He may have been linked to as many as 10 other seemingly random drive-by shootings across Wisconsin and Illinois. As you can see in the vid, McCloskey calmly exits his truck, points a handgun directly at police and opens fire, moments after being pulled over. He then tries to climb back into his truck, which was rolling because he had not put it in park, police immediately returned fire. The slow-moving pickup strikes a nearby utility pole, and McCloskey's hat flies into the air in a hail of gunfire. His head falls limp, and the truck's accelerator echoes through the neighborhood.

McCloskey's autopsy shows he died from police gunfire. Officials found extra ammunition in McCloskey's truck. The pickup had been stolen in Wyoming, and police do not know why he was where he was or how long he was there. He had been traveling through multiple states according to Department of Justice SAIC (Special Agent In Charge) "From what we've been able to find, he had no local ties."

Officers tracked down McCloskey after an investigation into the drive-by shooting led them to two local auto repair shops and a bar. Police said a patron there warned McCloskey that officers were looking for him. McCloskey fired two shots at Officer Josh K, two shots at Sgt. Scott H and one more at Josh K, who was wounded in the foot. He lost the tip of his third toe.

The unmarked unit in the vid (Chevy Impala) was one of the officers who had to quickly take cover before he had a chance to put it into park.
