Passing of Ulrich Wegener founding member of the GSG 9

The founding member of the German Counter Terrorism Unit of the German Federal Police passed on the 28th December away.The German Ministry of Interior acknowledged the particular information.

He held the Rang of an Brigadier General of the German Bundesgrenzschutz.The German BGS changed it`s name to the German Federal Police in 2005.

Mr.Wegener was tasked in 1972 by Hans-Dietrich-Genscher the former German Minister of the Interior to found the Unit.

Mr.de Maizière the current Minister of the Interior said that the Federal Republic of Germany lost an outstanding member of the Police who accomplished much for the Security of the Federal Republic of Germany.
