Hello all,
I am currently seeking employment with the navy and found this website referring to the Kodiak cold weather base. There's a ton of cool information on here and found I have a lot more to learn. I am trying to get into the navy special warfare program. The hardest part for me will be the physical part, it's been a while but I have kept in certain shape. I still can run a 5k in moderate time roughly 12min. I have been reading a lot over the years about the program and feel confident in my choice. Cold is not a problem for me as I was born and raised in Alaska. Heat is a factor anything over 75f, I tend to feel like I am burning up. Motivation is high and feel like I can handle it if I am close to water.
Again; awesome site. I love reading all the threads I have found, and look forward to the future.

Welcome.

I was also raised in Alaska. I went to South Anchorage High School. Where are you from?

Also, you run 5k in 12 min?

I graduated from Anchorage Christian 2005. Yeah that was my best time with out sprinting. A casual pace is roughly 18min depends on the course.

Welcome! I imagine a SEAL or two may chuckle at your comment that cold will not be a problem. Hell of a running time....sheesh!

In high school the xcountry team where running it around 6min, they could fly. State champ from Seward ran it in 5.04 maybe up here we don't have much to do so we run for fun?

What? Do you understand how far a 5k is? I'm calling bullshit on your 12-minute claim, much less the ridiculousness in the above post.
