SFC Rodriguez served as a team leader with the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, and member of the 3rd Ranger Battalion reconnaissance platoon, before becoming a crypto-linguist with 7th Special Forces group. He approached his new job as a cryptologist with ODA 7313 with the same passion and determination as he did in the Ranger Regiment, safeguarding his fellow Soldiers with his timely signals intelligence intercepts. SIGINT cannot protect against betrayal unfortunately, and an Afghan National Police officer killed SFC Rodriguez on February 2nd, 2020 while ODA 7313 waited for extract from a Key Leader Engagement.
