Besides my introductory post, this is the first thread I will have posted on ShadowSpear. First off, an enormous thanks to everyone who has shared their experience and expertise. I honestly cannot begin to estimate the number of hours I've spent reading through your posts and applying it not only to my training, but to my current position in the Air Force.

I'll keep this as concise as possible. I've worked with my current STO mentor for over a year now, however he recently took off on deployment and warned me that communication would be particularly sparse until his return. Although I also have a retired 20-year PJ as a mentor who actively engages with me to reassess and work on my areas of weakness, I would very much like to remain plugged in with an Active Duty Special Tactics Officer.

Between my user profile and introductory post, I think I've provided sufficient background and am going to avoid any redundancy on this post. That said, if you require additional information to gauge my commitment, research, or work thus far, please don't hesitate to ask it of me. Thanks for taking the time to read.

I have never seen a STO on this board. If you already have a mentor, and he's just deploying, do you really need a stop gap mentor? This kind of work requires a large degree of self-motivation. I would advise that you learn to do the right thing without the security blanket of the mentor telling you what to do, or providing constant feedback.

Acknowledged - thanks for your input. The primary reason for seeking a stop-gap mentor is because my current STO mentor isn't returning until after my planned retraining assessment window. Regardless of that fact, I'm tracking your feedback, so thank you again. I'll press on.
