Hello. Just got back from SOAR where I met and talked to JD Bath. That got me to searching. I was a 10 at CCN. Rt. Virginia. After that I was a covey rider out of the Phu Bai launch site. I didn't have room in my rucksack or on the OV10 for a shield but I did have a helmet with stars and stripes on it; at least until the AF made me paint it white. I don't know where the nick name came from but this is me.
 
You mention CCN. I'm assuming you were an OV10 pilot/FAC for MACV-SOG?

No. I was a covey rider. First 02As then OV10s. Yes. I was at Phu Bai one of our launch sites. Before I was a Covey rider I was a 10 RT Virginia at CCN.
 
Welcome. The books Maj. Plaster wrote are still some of my favorite.

@Marauder06 - he was an early member of the MACVSOG in Vietnam. If my memory serves me correct he was a 1-2 alongside Billy Waugh and made a combat HALO jump.
 
JD was on the last HALO at CCN. I was the Covey rider for that clusterfuck. The story on this site shows my buddy, Les Chapman, as the Covey rider. BTW, we just called them Covey. Les isn’t on FB but his wife is and a friend so I am trying to find out what’s going on. Same thing with Hickory but I won’t go into that here.
