FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, June 6, 2012)- The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command will hold a change of command ceremony June 13, 10 a.m. on Meadows Field at the U.S. Army Special Operations Command headquarters.
Maj. Gen. Kevin W. Mangum will relinquish command to Col. Clayton M. Hutmacher in a traditional Army ceremony.
Hutmacher is taking command following an assignment as assistant commanding general for Special Operations Forces Mobility, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Training Mission, Afghanistan.
Mangum has been the commander of USASOAC since the unit activated in March 2011 and will serve as the acting deputy commander general for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
Host for the ceremony is Lt. Gen. John F. Mulholland Jr., commanding general of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
In a separate ceremony, Mangum will be presented the Gold Order of St. Michael at 9:30 a.m. in the Heritage Auditorium. The Order of St. Michael recognizes individuals who have contributed to the promotion of Army Aviation through a lifetime of service to the Aviation Branch. Out of more than 8,000 recipients of this award, Mangum will be only the 110th to receive the Gold order.
