I had never been to a Tattoo before, and I was highly impressed. 0426151628.jpg

Featured were all five American services (bands and Army Drill Team), Pipes abd Drums 1st Bat'l Scott's Guards, Paris Port Dover Pipe Band, Le Bagad Dr Lann-Bihoue, Canadian Forces Base TRenton 8 Wing Pipes and Drums, Closkelt Pipe Band, The Guards Band of the Finnish Defense Forces, Republic of Korea Traditional Army Band, Royal Danish Navy Band, and the Scottish College Adeliade Pipe Band.

Edinburgh hosts the Tattoo during the entire month of August. It's a world class assembling of military bands from around the world. It was truly one of the best experiences in my life.

You have to plan early to get tix, though. They go on sale in November, and sell out faster than a Jimmy Buffet show in Mobile (trust me on that one). It's absolutely worth the effort, though. I will go again.

I did not realize that the Sunset Parade was also consider considered a Tattoo. I went to one a decade ago.
It also happens to be on the agenda for this weekend if I can secure tickets for my wife and I while we are in town visiting friends. Though this late in the game for opening weekend may be tough.

You might be better to try for August or towards the end of the schedule now. Getting tickets 4-5 months ahead of time is usually the norm. You can also show up (or used to be able to) and go on a standby list for the no show seats.
