Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 84, better known, as the
“Red Wolves” is the only squadron in the U.S. Navy dedicated to Naval Special Warfare support and Strike Rescue. HSC-84 is a Naval Reserve squadron employing over 200 Full Time Support (FTS) and Selective Reserve (SELRES) personnel.
HSC-84 operates eight Sikorsky HH-60H Seahawk helicopters, and is organized into four independent, two aircraft detachments tasked with maintaining readiness to deploy anywhere in the world in 72 hours notice. Deployment can be conducted by airlift, ship, or self-movement. The squadron is capable of operating day or night in all weather conditions at sea or remote shore sites using tents and field equipment that are maintained as part of the squadrons’s inventory.
