I've asked a few of you in private messages this question, and one member suggested I post it publicly for other civilians and SOF hopefuls to see.
What traits do you look for in new guys?
If a new guy is assigned to your unit/team, what traits make or break him? What traits differentiate those who made it through selection but will probably end up leaving SOF, and those who are clearly there for career. What traits would you say make someone go after a career in SOF, like it was their calling in life?
Is it just dedication and hard work? Or is there something extra that draws the 1% of 1%? Is there something that you believe is unique to your branch that maybe another branch doesn't necessarily require of its men? Or are the traits for the SOF community universal? Of course they're going to be PT studs, and probably fairly intelligent. Most if not all of them are going to be hard workers and dedicated people, or at least I would imagine from a purely observational point of view.
