AFSOC TACP WEBSITE

Good info. One of two AFSCs I am definitely considering crosstraining into.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you need to start out as a conventional TACP then get selected/try out for an AFSOC TACP slot, right?

Are there any Guard AFSOC TACP slots, or is it all AD?

That is a good question. Technically there are not any currently. However Guard ASOS's have and do augment SF units. For example my old unit worked with the 20th group as well as supported active duty ODA's overseas. A TACP is a jack of all trades. We can support just about anybody who needs CAS whether conventional or non-conventional.

Guard used to have 8 slots aligned with 19th and 20th SFG's; but I believe those associations have probably gone away.

Red-Dot is correct about Guard guys augmenting everyone, but a Guard Unit's focus should be on the NG it is tasked (via OPlan) to support.

Thanks for the info guys. I have a ways to go before it matters one way or the other, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about trying out for the AFSOC side of things as soon as I am qualified and able to.
