Army veteran charged with leaking secrets to journalist


Seth Harp tried to say she's being charged because she was a whistleblower, contrasting her with former unit guys who go on podcasts and disclose "national defense information".

For her part, Williams seemed to understand the information shared was too much.

In the complaint, Williams texted Harp about concerns she had about the article.
“Other than a few factual errors, I would definitely have been concerned with the amount of classified information being disclosed. I thought the things I was telling you so you could have a better general understanding how the [SMU] was set up or operated would not be published and it feels like an entire TTP was sent out in my name giving them a chance to legally persecute me and probably [Person 1].

Don't share info with journalists kids, especially those with an axe to grind against the particular unit you're in.

The only thing I find odd about this is the timing. She deserves all of the heat she's about to catch and then some. I hope she clocks some serious jail time, let's be really clear on that.

The odd part, this comes within days of a ton of chatter on social media about someone tipping off the Iranians during the WSO's E&E/ Rescue last week. I know you don't piece together the info and investigation overnight, I get it, but it didn't all come together until this week?

Ft. Bragg is in the local station's coverage range and they rarely report anything positive except for All America Week (which was cancelled because of Iran shenanigans). But then, good things rarely come out of Bragg (or Fayetteville), so there is that.

Tarring and feathering this joker in the town square at high noon might be appropriate - but shouldn't "we the people" be clamoring for that same standard be applied to the "I shot Bin Laden Guy" or that "Sherriff of Bagdad" cat or ANY of those fucking retired Generals that work for defense contractors that keep showing up on TV as "news contributors" that sell how important this "next phase of conflict" is going to be (which almost always coincides with the quarterly profit sheet for the defense contractor that they work for on the side) - maybe even the literal HUNDREDS of elected congressmen (and womyn) that send their profits from leaking shit to their off shore bank account ???
