The man who brought escaped inmate Richard Matt's bid for freedom to a deadly end, when the convicted killer, leveled a shotgun at him. Christopher Voss, a member of an elite team of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents, who were on the trail of Matt and fugitive David Sweat, claimed he had no choice when he shot Matt three times in the head near Malone, N.Y. on June
Voss' team choppered into the area and a state trooper searching cabins nearby told him he heard coughing along the woodline.
Then Voss, a former Army Ranger, and another agent, spotted someone lying on his stomach and circled around to confront the man.
That's when the 49-year-old Matt, dead drunk with a blood alcohol level of .18 percent, took aim.
Voss fired first.
