Chicago...

I’m in Chicago, what’s brings you to this wonderfully inept state?

I am doing a trauma class. The last time I was in Chicago in February was for boot camp at Great Lakes in the 90s.

I am flying in on Sunday at 11:30, hotel in Schaumberg. What's the best way to get from O'Hare to Schaumberg that's not going to cost me an arm and a leg?

Uber will be about ~$35-40 for that route, it is your best bet. If your flight was earlier I would offer to pick you up as I am heading past both your areas for a competition. You would go upstairs to the departures section at the American Airlines terminal. If you are on United go upstairs to departures and walk to the TSA entrance/Global Services door and then go outside and keep going that way.

Do not take a cab that is a city cab. They will not tell you they are charging you a massive surcharge to operate outside of the Airport/City zone. They will just hit you with the fee at the end and you have no recourse as there are signs saying as such with no explanation to an outsider.

OK, thanks for the info, that's very helpful. I have never, ever done Uber or any rideshare so this might be the time to learn.

I love Chicago. It’s still my favorite city in the world.

I haven’t been in many years admittedly, but try to get dinner one night at Wildfire. It’s probably my favorite restaurant in Schaumburg. If you are more on a budget, Portillo’s. Get a wet Italian beef and make sure to save room for the chocolate cake.
