Like I said in my intro, I'm a college junior planning on applying for OTS after graduation, with the ultimate goal of getting a shot at the PJ/CRO pipeline.
I know that you can't even begin to apply for Phase I of CRO assessment without already being commissioned. For me, this means that I have to finish BMT and OTS before applying, and choose a career path during OTS that allows me to cross-train into the CRO pipeline (Assuming they accept my application in Phase I). Can anybody give me an idea of how long I would have to remain in my initial career path in order to try for a slot in CRO assessment, and what types of careers within the Air Force would be best suited to allow me to cross-train into the career I really want?
If this matters at all to my question, I am on track to graduate with a double major in International Relations and Spanish, GPA somewhere around 3.4-3.5 having played lacrosse for the college all 4 years, 2 as a team captain.
I've read through the forums quite a bit, and couldn't find anything about this type of path to getting a shot at becoming a CRO.
Thanks in advance,

Hmmm. Someone may chime in here....you can also head over to specialtactics.com and pose your question.

specialtactics.com is down indefinitely. Host server provider's server had a significant hardware failure and it can't be put beck up until TE returns back to the states.

There is no direct OTS to CRO path for civilians as exists. The civilian OTS hopeful will need to get picked up by the nonrated OTS board, get through OTS and classified into some nonrated occupation (CE, Security Forces) and then submit a phase I application and ...

Thanks, that's what I guessed would be the case. Do you have any idea if there is a minimum amount of time you need to spend in the nonrated career before applying?

No minimum time stipulated by the gaining AFSC (CRO), the release is always controlled by the loosing AFSC. The only stipulations are the current stipulations in place for your active duty commissioned officer circumstances and situation when you apply for CRO.
