College football

So standard NCAA fare; good defenses usually show up week 1, good offenses take 4-6 weeks to season. The OSU/Texas game was exactly that- defenses that were clicking already playing offenses that were clunky.

That being said- Arch Manning suuuuuuucks. When he isn't playing St. Sweathen's School For the Blind (Girls only), he does not play well. I had to endure 3 weeks of "Arch Manning is a generational talent" nonsense only to watch him sling that weird side-arm thing not well. Texas is 100% overrated.

Ohio State's best unit (even after 14 players going to the draft) is their defense. Arguably the best defensive player in the nation in Caleb Downs, Matt Patricia as defensive coordinator- so yes, they will play high level defense all year. Won us the championship last year behind Capt Jack Sawyer.

It's totally true that defenses start at a higher level and most improvement occurs between the first and second game. I do think Ohio is a better team and Texas has a higher ceiling.

The defense looked fair, but the offense wasn't firing on all cylinders...or maybe they just aren't that good. J. Sayin didn't show me much more than Manning, but to be fair there were too many dropped passes.
Sayin might as well be a true freshman, that was his second start. Gonna take some reps for sure.

Texas coaching cost them.
Kick field goals and they get 9 more points.
OSU had 15 (IIRC) penalty yards, Texas had 50.
That's huge.

So I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop in the Michigan football coach firing saga.

The original story was he got fired because he was banging a staffer. Then it came out he was arrested. Arrested? For banging a staffer? Yeah he's married, but that's not an arrestable offense. And in a school like Michigan, that's maybe something you even try to cover up.

But then... yeah.

Coach lit his whole life on fire. Didn't read the article but it looks like he's married with young kids, had a dream job, probably making a few million per year, and apparently let a piece of ass ruin his life and career. Seen this movie before.

It's likely this wasn't his first affair. But maybe the first time he got dumped by a mistress.

He probably could have just acted like... I don't know a completely psycho asshole... and faded away for a while before landing another coaching gig somewhere else. But instead, he literally chose violence.

Right? Urban Meyer got caught redhanded, just didn't respond and eventually got a great job calling games on national TV. Lol.

Butter knife and scissors...lol. What a maroon.

Fuck Urban Meyer with a rusty pizza cutter. And Jeremy Foley too for good measure.

Fuck Urban Meyer
This shit is seems to happen to dudes when they get elevated to rock star status. When Meyer came here to Ohio State, you'd have thought Elvis just entered the building. But, of course he thought he was above the law and fucked it all up. As a coach, all you have to do at OSU is DON'T fuck it up.
