Speaking with several different recruiters, they all have a different view on MARSOC. My basic understanding is to do my absolute best, be sure to keep my mouth shut in the fleet, and just give a 110 on everything. But different recruiters say different things about getting into MARSOC. One told me "You must be a Recon Marine for 6 years prior to becoming a MARSOC CSO. Another said, you must wait to be a Lance Corporal. Then the final one said, "After you make Sergeant, you'll be eligible." Any truth on which one it is?

1) How much research have you conducted prior to your post above?
2) Was any of it from a .mil source?
3) Did you ask you recruiters to read any of it?

I've tried for months to find an exact answer online, but the verified sources are vague, and there are just forums by people just talking. The two of the recruiters I've spoke with about the matter. They brought up the MARSOC Recruiting site, it states "3-5 years Time In Service E-4 to E-5." But all of them say "That can't be right, I know people that are L. Corporals who are MARSOC." I don't really care how long it takes to get there, as long as one day I'm able to earn the right to try out. But from my understanding, I'm going to have to pay for eye surgery out of my own pocket. They've currently got me in a 0311 contract. They say they will ask who wants MARSOC at School Of Infantry. But everyone I've talked too, said this was untrue.

The recruiting prerequisites change constantly depending on the needs of the MOS.

No, you cannot enter MARSOC A&S after SOI. It's open to you once you pick up Corporal.

It used to be open to Lances if they'd been in the Fleet for so long.

Yes, at one point they took a couple guys straight out of SOI, but that was an experiment.

Who fucking cares; you have to be a Marine first.
Check that block, then worry about the next step (which isn't MARSOC).

Freefalling, that was the page the recruiter said "couldn't be right." For clarification, I wasn't asking if you could get into MARSOC after entry-level training. In my opinion, there is no way I'd be ready, or anyone for that matter. I was just asking to get a straight answer, because there was so many different aspects around. I really appreciate all the responses, guys!

To explain why I'm busting your balls a little and then I'll bow out:

Go back to your original post and look at my questions. You suffer from the same "disease" many of us did when we enlisted...overwhelemed with information, some of it conflicting, and pressured to do it right the first time you kind of become stuck. Coming to us for help/ advice, your post(s) seem(s) clear enough to you because you know what you've done. To a reader unfamiliar with your story and effort, it looks like you've done nothing other than talk to several different recruiters. A little more background info and more directed or informed questions would help.

There was, maybe still is, a way to enlist and have an automatic shot at Recon. If you fail you go to the fleet as an 03whatever, but if your eyes are holding you back then that option (if it still exists) may not work for you. This could be (my speculation) what your recruiters were thinking about....confusing MARSOC and Recon.

Unless otherwise needed, I'll retrograde away and leave it to the EGA-holders to sort this one out. Chew on my thought process a little and you'll see where I'm coming from.

Good luck.

The MARSOC website is there for a reason and they don't post mis-information on it. The website also has the POCs for the East and West Coast MARSOC recruiters. They will give you the most accurate and current info.
