Domestic Terrorism, Lone Wolf Attacks etc...

I'm going to be a little upset if a former SF guy could only muster a car bomb made of fireworks and gas cans...
He might've been a patsy, dug into something he shouldn't, or as @RackMaster stated was retarded enough to fall for the propaganda. That said, I find it hard to believe that someone who works with drones couldn't come up with something better. Haj was way better at this using inferior tech and materials.

It's almost as if the people who planned this had no experience with these sorts of things. Then there is the propaganda angle, a Tesla and a Trump building. Seems like this "operation" was dreamt up by some smooth brained idiot, who has never gotten their hands dirty or put their life on the line. Not only did they fail to do serious damage, one of their "best men" is dead, and they used up operational resources that could have been used in a more effective way.

Given the previous Trump assassination attempts, White House chefs ending up dead, Las Vegas shooting, and everything else, I'd bet this is related to the people pulling the strings behind the Human Bidet and Cackling Clown. 18 more days until the Trump admin can start draining DC.

Ok, here me out. This isn't an attack on the "left".

Trump is about to take office, after the establishment and media have been calling him a threat to democracy. How long was it going to take before Democrat supporting Veterans and currently serving members, took this as a legitimate threat? And thinking they were upholding their oath by starting an insurgency? Not saying this is the case but something is not adding up.

I don't think so. The booger-eater in NOLA supported ISIS. He chose a well-populated and popular venue. On a major holiday.

The LV guy chose a well-populated and popular venue. On a major holiday. We don't know what his motive was, but according to some media he had a beef with "the government." You'd think he'd choose a government-related target, but he was at Trump Tower.

Things about which I am scratching my head: why 0300 in NO, when Bourbon Street is almost the least populated? Why a Tesla, when any other truck would have turned into shrapnel? By a guy who seemed to have some experience in that world?

Right now they are not linking the two events but coincidences are piling up. I agree with you that something is not adding up.

This is what I’ve been thinking. Given his background this doesn’t seem like the most professional of plans.

I wouldn't expect you to know his specifics, just springboarding from your post.

Could he have had a TBI, PTSD, some other cause going on that would maybe impair his planning process? I'm sure you've seen suicides that were often people without hope devolving into a self-perpetuating cycle of despair.

Although a vague connection. Both had similar service periods on Bragg and deployments to Afghanistan.

The two New Year’s Day attackers were both Army veterans and, according to a report from Denver 7, allegedly served at the same military base, Fort Bragg, and even served in Afghanistan around the same period.

In addition, Livelsberger and Jabbar rented their vehicles via the carsharing company, Turo, officials have said.

It's his wife but wouldn't surprise me if he had similar beliefs.
His wife, believed to be Sara Livelsberger, wrote on Facebook in May 2016 that she was a registered Democrat. She posted a picture of a graphic commissioned by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee appearing to show Donald Trump which read “stop bigotry”.

She captioned the post: “Perks of being a registered Democrat… I can’t wait to slap this baby on my truck.”

Matthew Livelsberger: What we know about the Cybertruck explosion suspect

"Shamsud-Din BaharJabbar was in the regular Army as a Human Resource Specialist (42A) and Information Technology (IT) Specialist (25B) from March 2007 until January 2015 and then in the Army Reserve as an IT Specialist (25B) from January 2015 until July 2020. He deployed to Afghanistan from February 2009 to January 2010. He held the rank of Staff Sergeant at the end of service.”

Possible you missed prior conversations on this, but in the spirit of fostering a level of professionalism to these more passionate conversations, please refrain from the use of derogatory nicknames for public figures.

Thank you.

I'm sure the fine folks in the FBI's BAU will figure out the why's and where-for's, but it could have been anything. TBI, PTSD, he was rushed, someone else did it, he was big mad, etc.

Dude martyred himself and became a barely, if remembered at all, trivia question.

If anything, Cybertruck sales will go up because people just saw creating a VBIED with one fails. Right or wrong, probably wrong, they'll think the Cybertruck is safe.

Great job guy who used fireworks to blow up a hotel. Strong work.

It’s the old VW ad in real life…

This is why I doubted initial reports. It appeared pretty amateur; would've expected better. But between you and other reports confirming he was with 10th Group and home on leave, I guess he really was SF. Crazy.

Looking like a miserable suicide to me.

Picked an odd place and date. This dude had to of heard more about how to make a decent bomb from hardware store chemicals just through the grapevine, then to choose this nonsense. That is, if he was trying to hurt anybody else.
And spontaneous, at that. It's the only thing that makes any real sense.

Don't you mean EVBIED?

So both dudes were prior Army, both guys rented their vehicle through Turo, both guys worked on Bragg.

Coincidences abound. One thing is certain, the Vegas dude killed himself for absolutely nothing. This whole event barely slowed traffic down in Vegas yesterday.

Yeah, if remembered beyond next week, it'll be because of his ineptitude.

Even the clown that killed the UHC CEO had a better plan and execution (no pun intended).
Does anyone remember the guy who blew up his RV in Nashville on Christmas a few years ago? No. How about the dude who drove through the Christmas parade in Waukesha, WI? Nope.

All were more "accomplished" than this guy. He didn't even break the lobby glass, despite being parked right next to it.

I followed his court appearances. Dude was a real animal that should have been put down. That parade route was an inconvenience to him while trying to run away from a warrant. He was a woman hater, a pedophile, a narcissist, with breathtaking anger and yuge control issues, who ran those woman down because he aimed at them and avoided hitting males as much as possible.

I followed it as much as possible because all of his life he had terrorized females from his own mother and grandmother that he had scared to death, and was vividly making the idea of any good men out there among us as a farce. His judge and the DA were females and I wanted to see him take it and be as helpless to do anything just like his victims. And oh it was so, so worth the wait to see him get justice finally. It wasn't a happiest ending to me at least because they don't have the death penalty anymore, but it was almost just as good.

F that guy.
