At 9 or 10 my peeps and I used to take daddy’s cigarettes, use a needle to make a hole down near the filter, put the fuse through the hole, light the cig, place the device in desired location, and walk calmly away. Burn down time was about 5 minutes so plenty of alibi time.
At first blush to me this seems more like a very public suicide to me more than a legit attempt to really hurt a bunch of other people. “Go out with a bang” on multiple levels.

Turo has a few million bookings each year. Would it matter if they both booked through Hertz?
I can get behind this take. Also, Turo has to love it because a fuckload of people probably didn't even know they were a thing. I sure didn't.
If the Hertz board had a director connected to a powerful political family with 60+ suspicious deaths in their close circles, notorious for allegedly eliminating people via bizarre "suicide" that could expose what appears to be an international criminal enterprise spanning decades with outsize influence on our political system, sure.

I was going to point out that a guy as smart as he was would have thought about people taking it the wrong way, but in the heat of passion not much thought gets put into the critical thinking side when it's all emotions running that crap show.

I don’t see any evidence to support the assertion that the bomber accidentally went to the wrong Vegas. We could just as easily say that he thought Kingman or Albuquerque or any of the other cities and towns on the route was Las Vegas, NV.
