Domestic Terrorism, Lone Wolf Attacks etc...

The hilarity of watching very educated people try to deal with real world actualities and not the cultural impacts of black and brown people experiencing slightly cooler temperatures in urban areas as evidence of systemic racism and misogyny is absolutely hilarious.

I’m so glad the veil of “higher education” as a necessary thing for real life is off. This timeline is much funnier because of it.

Have we not heard from any of the victims of the Brown shooting? There were multiple survivors, are NONE of them talking to the press?

If someone shot up a class I was in, and I saw what I'm seeing from Brown, the local PD, the mayor, the governor, etc., I'd be on the mic.

"I was there. Yeah, it was this guy. Here's what he said. Fuck all of you people."

Because the victims are of the wrong party. Pretty obvious.

No you wouldn’t.

You’d have shot him, as he so richly deserved.

I appreciate the confidence, brother.

Yale was bad in terms of far-left extremism. Brown is WORSE. I have never been to Brown and it's unlikely that I will ever go there. But if I was there when this went down, I wouldn't been armed. Not unless I could have gone all Bondi Beach and got the guy's gun away from him...

What a twist. Seeing reporting that the brown an MIT shootings were linked. Suspect (a Portuguese national) apparently self eliminated. Again, from early reporting.

Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente identified as Brown University shooting suspect, found dead

I was very apprehensive on the whole "shooter is this Palestinian student" thing because it seemed to have no actual basis other than Laura Loomer tweets. Reminded of when the internet was sure the Boston Bomber was a Brown student who was missing. (Found dead like a week later.)
I wouldn't have been suprised if it wound up being accurate, but the lack of info seemed out of character, especially for this FBI.

This twist though? Fucking weird.

-Dude randomly shoots up a class at a university he attended over 25 years ago, with no specific motive/target (currently)

-Waits a few days then kills somebody who was a student with him in Portugal roughly 25-30 years

-Offs himself in a storage unit with all of the evidence for these crimes

This is a very interesting case study in mob reaction and information management.

This was also the second time I saw the "AI gait analysis tool" say with "99.5% accuracy" or something that it matched the first suspect... fool me once, something something I did 9/11.

It still doesn't answer the questions that are still there about the first dude- why did the university protect him? Why are all his socials still scrubbed and taken down?

Exactly correct on all points.

To me, that's one of the biggest mysteries. It's entirely possible that the mob just decided that any fat radical is as good as another, and determined that Mustapha was the guy. It made sense to a lot of people. It made sense to me. And then maybe he started catching so many threats that they were like "hey, we gotta do something, this guy is going to get merked," and they chose to do it by taking down everything that was public facing.

Or, they also thought he was the shooter and were like, "oh shit, we gotta protect the school" and did it, and it turned out (maybe? it seems?) that he wasn't involved.

Or, maybe his stuff was scrubbed off the site prior to the attack (I don't know when it came down, it seems like it came down after but I can't tell).

Or there's more to the story and we don't know all the facts yet.

In any case, this was EXTREMELY poorly handled by Brown. They had multiple pressers where they didn't know basic facts. And if the Palestinian student wasn't the guy, and they knew that and were just trying to protect him, THEN SAY THAT. "We are confident that Mustafa is not the shooter. However, right wing media is falsely accusing him of being involved, and numerous threats have been made against his life. We have take down anything that might be used to dox him, so that we can protect him while we work on getting justice for the students and families affected by this senseless tragedy." I don't know, something, ANYTHING, better than "Oh, I didn't know that happened."

"Bro trust me it was just a 1-in-200 chance it would be incorrect! We just need you to let us get more data (by constant cctv surveillance) so it works next time!"

I think my favorite body language "proof" was that the suspect sometimes stood with his hands clasped behind his back, which is apparently a thing only Arabic men do.

I think it's probably a mix of these two things.

Social media was nukeed either because the dude saw the media attention or sites themselves did because they were pre-emptively acting as if he was the shooter.

I imagine Brown did the same thing.

I don't derka, derka, but most photos of me are with my hands clasped behind my back. I frequently walk with them in that pose, especially when I'm lost in thought.

Aloha snackbar, I guess? Time to stop going into stores with a backpack...
