I love the Marines and I love my job. I've been working on helicopters for the past four years, and I've met many good people along the way. I've been on many exercises with the 31st MEU- but I hate that I never saw the opportunity to play in the sandbox in my first tour of duty. I've committed myself to becoming a C.S.O., and dedicate all (most) of my free time preparing for it. I'm slated for class 3-14 in August. I will do everything it takes to become the individual that MARSOC needs.

I recently earned my Associate's that I started at my first duty station. With that piece of paper I've learned how to organize my life, manage my time, and learn new disciplines efficiently. I'm putting school on hold until after MARSOC. There is nothing more important than the task at hand.

I spend my free time appeasing my wife and training my puppy. He's lost in the sauce, but slowly piecing things together. My wife is Okinawan, so I spend my weekends taking her to the mighty PX and Commissary. And the rest of California.

As for MARSOC training, today's day 1 of the 10 week primer. It's a shame that day 1 is a rest day. I've spent the past four weeks preparing for this thing. I'm working with a 285 PFT with minimal conditioning (those days are over, I know). I'm Water Survival Advanced, and swim regularly (at least once a week in Cami's). I can swim forever, but my crawl is hideous and I'm working on fixing that. I weight train every day.

I've lurked this site for months, taking bits and pieces of advice to insert into my training. This is an outstanding community, and I look forward to becoming part of it.

I'd say welcome and good luck, but I don't think you'll need any luck to achieve your goals. So, welcome!

Welccome to SS. A wife, and a puppy; both require attention, love and affection. Get it right, and the return can be simply wonderful. Congrats on your degree, and, enjoy your MARSOC day off.
