Hello,

I'm currently in college, but will be dropping out following the fall semester. I plan to enlist in either Army or Air Force intel with hopes of working as an "enabler". I think I used that word correctly? I am leaning toward Army and deciding between 35M or P!

Thanks for the welcomes.

Regarding college, I just can't justify spending $120k on an education when I'm studying something I can learn in the military for free as well as gain experience and have college paid for. Also, I've been told officers don't do as much "hard" intel work and instead are mainly managers. That is something I don't want to do, at least right now.

So, obviously you disagree. Could you explain why? I've talked to a few 35 series and they have told me most intelligence analysis is done by enlisted. Is this incorrect? If this is the wrong place for this discussion, I apologize.

I meant hard as in actual collection or analysis not difficult hard. Sorry. I couldn't find the right word for what I wanted to say.

Given your lack of experience, it would have been better for you to just not say anything about what anyone in the military does.

Welcome to the site.

Situational awareness involves being aware of what is happening in the vicinity to understand how information, events, and one's own actions will impact goals and objectives, both immediately and in the near future. Lacking or inadequate situational awareness has been identified as one of the primary factors in accidents attributed to human error.[1] Thus, situational awareness is especially important in work domains where the information flow can be quite high and poor decisions may lead to serious consequences (e.g., piloting anairplane, functioning as a soldier, or treating critically ill or injured patients).

Welcome aboard.

Welcome to SS. Sorry to learn you are parting ways with an institute of higher learning. There is much that the military can teach you, as you mentioned in your first post. Many have found this site to be of great value, hopefully you will feel the same.
