Im 34 years old and im moving fast to get enlisted before my 35th birthday.. like mostly everyone here i want to try out for SF. Im too old for 18x contract. . I tried and talked to many recruiters but wasnt happening. So im going to join as an 11x contract. My question is.. if a pass everything. . Boot camp and what ever i have to as a new soldier (i don't know whats after boot camp) How fast can i drop a packet for SF if im privileged to do so..? What will the pipeline be? (After boot camp then what?) As in time (weeks) and so on..Ive read stuff on this subject on the web. Bit coildnt find a direct answer. My questions are not inique but it is a question i have, and have read different answers. . Thanks for reading.. just lookong for a straight answer .. thanks again

Welcome. If you're able to get an 11x contract, you'll be sent to Fort Benning, GA for infantry OSUT meaning you'll do both basic training and Advanced Individual Training back to back there. In the past there have been recruiters for the 75th Ranger Regiment and other special programs that offer candidates an opportunity to try out and get them amended orders to selection or RASP. I can't say definitively that you'll have the opportunity - the only way to get the guarantee is to get it on your enlistment contract. I'd recommend that you get in extremely good physical condition, and learn fast. Know your soldiers creed, your general orders, the chain of command you'll be tested on. Your PT score, and your performance on the tasks you do in front of your basic training cadre are their only indicators of your preparedness and maturity. Show them you're not garbage and express to your platoon drill sergeant your desire to go SF. Hopefully they can help you out.
Also, it might not be possible but there are waivers that can be granted for age. Just fight hard for what you want and get your PT score up because that's their biggest predictor of your success. Best of luck, man.

In regard to the actual pipeline so-to-speak, it's hard to say. You'll have to get guaranteed orders to selection for your path to change to a real pipeline. I couldn't really say what that pipeline looks like right now. You'll have to direct that question to a current 18-series dude. For now, it'll be basic training, AIT (again, OSUT for 11x), and then report to your first duty station where you're expected to put in at least 6 months before you can drop a packet for SOF. Wish I could give you more info but you don't have a very concrete path quite yet so it's hard to say. Again, best of luck!

If you're interested in SF but can't get 18x there's this option: 75th Recruiters at OSUT

I would shoot for that having heard of the 75th missions from former Ranger Batt. guys and what you can read online. Being in a regular infantry unit was Ok, better while deployed. Good luck.

Welcome. I'm not staff, and I don't even play one on TV...but you might try the search function. All the questions in your OP have been answered many times on this forum.

Also, you're 34 and an aspiring Ranger. You write like a teenager.

Some good feedback in this thread, but a reminder to all that welcome thread's are for 'welcomes' only.

@Calichamp105 , please begin a new thread in an appropriate part of the forum if you'd like to continue on this topic.
