Hopefully Enlisting with as an 11x with an Option 40

Hello tribe, new member here. Long story short I’ve wanted to serve my country ever since I was a little boy. I’m currently 26 with a BS in Criminal Justice. Due to a few personal reasons my planned date I was going to enlist got pushed back quite a bit. I updated my recruiter on the reason and said get back to me when everything is taken care of. Do they only give out a certain amount of opt. 40s a year? Can my recruiter push hard to get me one? If they don’t have one should I hold out until they do? Anyone out there have any advice for instance talking to recruiter, ASVAB, MEPS, or basic would be greatly appreciated.
