Hello fellow airmen. Served as a 16th Personnel Specialist under AFSOC at HURLBURT AFB. Now a veteran living in Georgia. No more Saudi sand storms just good ol red clay all day. I served back in the day. From the early 90s, when Operation Just Cause kicked off in Panama through Desert Storm and Southern Watch. Kinda miss those long 12 hr a day shifts 6 days a week at Eskan Village KSA. If anyone was TDY to the desert back then, drop a line and say HEY!

Welcome. I was with Bco, 2/325 out of Bragg when we were sent to Eagletown in Daharan after Khobar Towers was hit. Fucking God damn mess. I saw the village a few times in 97.

Yeah. The was a sad day. My small team of personnel specialist would fly from Riyadh to Dhahran once a week to process the troop arrivals/departures. We would usually sleep for a few hours in one of those high rise barracks that was targeted. Then fly out before dawn early in the morning back to Riyadh. Think we missed that mess by a day or two. We were briefed daily (be alert and report anything that looked suspicious) leading up to that barrack's bombing. I think an extremist pulled up a truck by the security fence and detonated explosives hid in it. The security perimeter was setup WAY TOO CLOSE to the barracks.

Bad time for sure brother. We were there for security/QRF. Lots of bad juju after that. This is a welcome thread, we'll continue this on DM. Welcome again.
