Greetings All,

Finally registered here at SS as I'm coming to a decision point in life. Way back when I graduated high school (at 16) I was interested in the Air Force Combat Weather career field. This was back prior to, or right around the transition to 1W0X2, so my recruiters at the time weren't very knowledgeable to the situation and were heavily trying to push me into SERE, PJ etc which wasn't what I wanted.

I ended up going to college, getting a couple of degrees(Kinesiology and Outdoor Education), ski/outdoor bumming for a while, and recently took a "dream job" as a marketing exec. I couldn't hate it any more. Riding a desk, facilitating contractors who are unmotivated and try to pass by on mediocrity, as well as the vein nature of the business isn't for me. I did commit to the company through the transition period they are going through so I'll honor it through next summer.

So I'm 24 and the clock is ticking, I'm going to use the next year to get back to/beyond PAST shape and give SOWT a shot. I was always intrigued by the science/geography part combined with everything else. I have some avalanche and land navigation training under belt already. I've interacted with some operators from different branches during WFR training and re-certing over the years and have always been blown away by the skill set and demeanor they bring to the table.

So I've landed here on SS. SOWT isn't the easiest to find info on. The combat weather forum and Special Tactics are fairly quiet, and unlike PJ/CCT there are no books or shows out there depicting SOWT. The FAQ I requested from their recruiting office was pretty informative for those interested in the same path. I figured I'd jump on here to read up on the units they support to get a better idea of their missions.

Sorry for the long winded post, looking forward to soaking up some info
Thanks
