Aloha everyone,
I am prior service Air National Guard, 7 years as a Computer Systems Controller (3C2) and realized that I missed being in the military, even if only as a part-timer, and want to get back in to start serving again. I am a civilian career firefighter so reserve/NG is my preferred route. I have always wanted to go after SOF, one of my regrets was not going active instead of reserve when I was 18 and going for it. Now as I look to get back in, only now do I realize that opportunities for SOF are abundant for reservists. Here to really look at what posibility I have of making it happen 12 years later. My two main interests in terms of career field are ANG SOWT and Army NG SF.
With that said, here are some of the challenges my situation presents: I am 31 y/o, so time is more of the essence for me than the "normal" candidate; and I live in Hawaii, which means I have to find a unit that allows commuting and then actually commute. I have no problem commuting for drills, it would be worth it for me.
So that's me in a nutshell, very glad to be here and soak up knowledge to see where I truly stand. Thanks!
