My name is Steve and I currently serve a Army Reserve unit in NC. I can say the Army has been good to me I had to over come obstacles to get and stay here. without going into detail I had already been kick out of the Army once for physical reason. I took the time and made sure I had my stuff together cause I will be damned if I was going to get kicked out again. Anyway right now we are deployed down range in Afghanistan. Always loved reading about Special Operations of any branch. I always found it very interesting. Then I got the honor to meet a few operators while doing some extra training. Since that day there was no greater cause for me. I either want to be or directly support operators. Regardless of the information I have gather from soldiers and operators from various groups that's when I started to dig into National Guard special operations. I'm about to turn 30 and have a wife and 9 month old son so it's a bit much for me to give up another 2 years from them to pursue this dream of being a reserve operator. I am looking to go to a SF unit around where I live to try and get a direct support position, nobody has a harder job and its guys like me that will do the dumb stuff while there out fighting. I don't see a more important job. Thanks for reading

Welcome to SS. So, it sounds like you are back on active duty after rocky start. Good for you to keep at it, and I wish you luck in finding an SOF support spot.
