Good Afternoon Everyone,
My name is Nick, and I am currently two and half years into my Marine Corps 'career' (Should it turn into one). I'm currently in Supply, due to circumstances I will explain in a moment, and I cannot stand it as much now as I couldn't when the Corps sent me to supply school. For a quick about me, I joined at 19 due to being persuaded to 'try college first' and then realizing I hated it because I don't like to party and that is mostly all college is now. So out of college I walked, and into my recruiting office I went. I wanted to be in since I was a young kid playing with GI Joes, and just always wanted to do my part, and fight for my country. Using my 'wide-eyed' nineteen year old-ness, my recruiter sucked me straight into a 'recon contract' because "I dont have any infantry contracts available but you can do this Recon option and if you're dropped you'll be sent to an Infantry company."(Bullshit) -Direct quote. So off I went, loved bootcamp, loved ITB, and then got to MART (Formally RIP, and now I think its named something different.) I was dropped due to a nose issue from a corrective surgery I had that I was still in the healing process of. And then next thing I know, 'Needs of the Marine Corps' took over and off to Supply school I went.
Now I'll be honest it made me very unmotivated, and very very bitter towards the Corps. Boo hoo, pity me.
Fuck that.
I eventually saw it as an oppurtunity, either be bitter for the rest of the five years, or do my best to strive. And so I chose the latter, and did my best.
I am now a Corporal and am striving to go to A&S in about a year and half once I'm elligable and hit the 4 year mark of my 5 year contract, and striving to be competitive in the selection process. I hope to gain a lot of useful knowledge on ways to perfect and make my work outs and exercise routines more effective, and just learn everything I can from every one here who has made it.
As when I was a kid, and even now that I am in and have been in for a couple years now, the guys who have made it into the Elite groups of the branches have always been models I look up to like heroes. I hope when my chance comes I can push through, make it, and be there for someone else to look up too one day.
Thank guys,
-Nick
