Hello all.

I started my career in the Navy as a Divefarer contracted SEAL candidate. We were assigned to a modified boot camp class (PT’ed by SEALS) and our rate was chosen by our contracted groups choice. I was assigned Gunners Mate and sent to A school, this would have been my choice anyway for the small arms and explosives portion. I spent 4 months (4th and 1st phase) at BUD/S but fell out when I broke my foot, and my father passed away unexpectedly at 38. I was not in a solid place for training at that point. I got pulled into the armory at the center and worked there and supported 3rd phase at San Clemente island. From there I deployed to Guam. I worked hard at PT and to prepare myself. My CO got me orders back to Coronado for my re-enlistment. 10 weeks before my re-enlistment date I ended up getting caught between a diesel forklift and a full pallet of ammunition during a load out. I had to get a medivac to Tripler in Hawaii where I spent 6 weeks getting put back together. My arm was badly mangled and that was the end of my Navy time.

I went through 4 VA and 2 arm specialist surgeries afterwards. The VA then sent me to college and a bunch of certification courses.

I now work at a proving ground (9 years) for the Army. Spent the last 2 1/2 years on nights supporting OCONUS there, moving recently to days for a better position.

I have rehabilitated my arm over the years and have been pushing myself physically.

My son has been training for the Army and plans to volunteer for RASP at OSUT. He has been wanting to do this since he was 8. While searching for information on what he needed to do for his contract we found ShadowSpear.

He took the Oath Thursday and ships to Benning in early January for 11X. He signed up for an account here to do his introduction. He will be 4th generation on my side of the family. My father was infantry in the 82nd, and my grandfather was a boatswains mate during Korea.

Glad to have you, and your son, on the site.

BUD/S used to have a 4th phase that was added on for preparation. So the sequence was 4th, 1st, 2nd then 3rd. It was a 2 month lead up to class up.
