Good afternoon,
Please accept this brief statement as my introduction to the SS community. I am someone with a lot of questions about moving forward with a military career because of my age and background, so I appreciate the opportunity to join this forum, and learn from the information shared by others who have actual knowledge about the subject mater. I hope to eventually be able to return the favor, and share relevant knowledge with the community.
As for me, my age, thirty-two (32), is certainly not opening any doors for me. I am one of those guys who decided to enlist late in life. On the other hand, I was fortunate to have had an opportunity to go to college and law school in lieu of military service. Although being an attorney has its moments, it does not fulfill that burning desire to serve that I have always had. Luckily for me, even at 32, it seems that there are still some options out there that will allow me to serve in an SOF capacity if I have what it takes.
Researching this forum helped me find out what those options are, and what it takes to make it happen. After researching the options, I decided to talk with an Army recruiter. I have been speaking with the recruiter about a 35M/Option 40/RASP contract. I would also like to ensure that I have an opportunity to go to DLI, but from what I read that is unlikely.
Long story short, I should have listened to my gut (that burning desire) when I was younger. I am sure there will be guys who read this that didn't listen to their gut. In my opinion, if it is not too late for them, they should.
